Banning All Foreign Interference and Influence: Michigan Sovereignty First
No foreign government, entity, or interest, whether from China, England, Israel, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran, or any other nation, has the right to interfere in Michigan’s elections, policy, education, or economy. Foreign influence operations undermine American sovereignty, distort democracy, and place external agendas above the interests of Michigan citizens.
The Michigan First Movement demands a comprehensive, nationality-neutral ban on foreign interference. All nations are held to the same standard. Michigan will protect its sovereignty without exception or favoritism.
Core Policy: Zero Tolerance for Foreign Interference
Total Ban on Foreign Funding and Influence: Prohibit all foreign governments, state-owned entities, foreign nationals, or entities under substantial foreign control from:
Donating to Michigan political campaigns, ballot initiatives, or PACs.
Funding public universities, K-12 schools, think tanks, or nonprofits that influence state policy.
Purchasing farmland, critical infrastructure, ports, energy facilities, or media outlets in Michigan.
Lobbying Michigan officials through undisclosed foreign agents.
Strict FARA Enforcement: Require full registration and disclosure under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) for any individual or organization acting on behalf of a foreign principal. Aggressive prosecution for violations, including those involving Israeli, Chinese, or other governments.
Key Legislative and Enforcement Actions
1. Election Integrity Against Foreign Interference
Ban all foreign donations, direct or indirect (including through U.S.-based nonprofits or dark money groups with foreign ties), to candidates, parties, or ballot measures.
Require full donor transparency for any organization spending on Michigan elections if it has received foreign funds in the prior five years.
Enhanced cybersecurity and audit requirements for election systems to prevent foreign hacking or manipulation.
2. Education and Cultural Influence
Prohibit public universities and schools from accepting funding, programs, or partnerships from foreign governments or their proxies (including Confucius Institutes, certain Middle East studies programs funded by foreign states, or any ideologically driven foreign initiatives).
Mandate disclosure of all foreign funding sources for research, professorships, or student groups.
Ban dual-loyalty arrangements that compromise academic freedom or push foreign state agendas in classrooms.
3. Economic and Security Protections
Critical Assets Ban: No foreign ownership or control of Michigan farmland, water resources, energy infrastructure, ports, defense-related manufacturing, or technology firms.
CFIUS-Style State Review: Create a Michigan Committee on Foreign Investment to review and block transactions posing national or state security risks, regardless of the country of origin (China, Israel, Gulf states, etc.).
Lobbying Transparency: Full public disclosure of all foreign lobbying expenditures and contacts with Michigan officials. Ban former officials from lobbying for foreign governments for at least 10 years after leaving office.
4. Enforcement and Penalties
Foreign Interference Task Force: Dedicated unit in the Attorney General’s office with subpoena power, working with federal agencies to investigate and prosecute violations.
Severe Penalties: Felony charges, asset forfeiture, deportation (for non-citizens), and permanent debarment from state contracts or benefits for individuals or entities violating foreign influence bans.
Whistleblower Rewards: Significant financial rewards for exposing foreign interference schemes.
5. Universal Application and Neutrality This policy applies equally to all foreign actors. There are no exceptions for allies or strategic partners. Whether the interference comes from Beijing, Jerusalem, Doha, Moscow, or Tehran, Michigan’s response is the same: American sovereignty above all.
Implementation
Legislation: Pass the Michigan Sovereignty and Foreign Influence Prohibition Act as a comprehensive, neutral bill.
Immediate Actions: Audit current foreign funding and ownership in critical sectors. Issue cease-and-desist orders where violations are found.
Transparency Dashboard: Public, searchable database of all disclosed foreign influence activities, funding, and enforcement actions.
Federal Coordination: Work with Congress and the administration to strengthen national FARA enforcement and CFIUS reviews.
Expected Outcomes
Elimination of foreign money and influence from Michigan politics and institutions.
Protection of Michigan elections, economy, farmland, and education from external manipulation.
Restoration of public confidence that Michigan policy serves Michigan citizens and American interests first.
Strong precedent that no foreign power, friend or adversary, gets special treatment.
Michigan belongs to Michiganders, not to Beijing, not to Tel Aviv, not to any foreign capital. True sovereignty means rejecting all foreign interference without fear or favoritism.
No Foreign Masters. Michigan First. America First.
This platform will be introduced immediately. We call on all legislators who believe in American independence to support these universal protections.
AMERICAN SOVEREIGNTY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE.
