Michigan’s children belong to their families, not the state. For too long, public education has been captured by ideological agendas that undermine American exceptionalism, distort history, and prioritize political activism over reading, writing, math, and civic knowledge. The Michigan First Movement demands True Education Freedom, schools that teach unapologetic patriotism, accurate Michigan and American history, and traditional values while eliminating indoctrination and rewarding outstanding teachers who put students and country first.
Core Principles
Parents are the primary educators and have absolute authority over their children’s upbringing and values.
Education must instill love of country, constitutional literacy, and pride in Michigan’s heritage.
Taxpayer-funded schools must remain ideologically neutral, no political, racial, or cultural indoctrination.
Excellent teachers who deliver results and align with these values will be rewarded; those who undermine them will be removed.
Key Policy Reforms
1. Parental Rights and School Choice
Universal School Choice: Full funding follows the child via Education Savings Accounts. Parents can choose public, private, charter, homeschool, or micro-school options without penalty.
Parental Bill of Rights: Parents have the right to review all curriculum and materials, opt their child out of any content that conflicts with their values, and receive full transparency on teachers’ lesson plans and school policies.
No Secret Conversations: Schools must immediately notify parents of any gender-related issues or mental health concerns involving their child.
2. Patriotic and Michigan-Centered Curriculum
Foundational American and Michigan History Mandate: Require accurate, age-appropriate teaching of:
Founding documents (Anti-Federalist Papers, Federalist Papers, Mayflower Compact, Common Sense, Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights).
Michigan history, from Native American roots through French and British periods, statehood, lumbering, auto industry, and contributions to America’s wars and innovations.
American exceptionalism, the sacrifices of veterans, and the triumphs of the free enterprise system.
Civics and Patriotism Requirement: Every student must pass a civics exam on the Constitution and Michigan government before graduation. Daily Pledge of Allegiance and moments of reflection on American values.
Ban on Divisive Ideologies: Prohibit the teaching of Critical Race Theory, DEI mandates, gender ideology, Marxist class struggle, or any curriculum that promotes racial division, collective guilt, or anti-American narratives in K-12 public schools. Violations trigger loss of state funding.
3. Teacher Accountability and Rewards
Patriot Teacher Incentive Program:
Performance bonuses and salary supplements for teachers whose students demonstrate high achievement in reading, math, history, and civics.
Additional rewards for educators who incorporate patriotic content, Michigan history projects, or character education rooted in traditional American values.
Fast-track certification and loan forgiveness for military veterans, parents, and professionals entering teaching with strong patriotic records.
Rooting Out Anti-American Indoctrination:
Annual transparency reports from every school district listing all curriculum materials, speakers, and third-party programs.
Clear process for parents and taxpayers to report and investigate teachers or administrators who repeatedly promote anti-American, communist, or extremist ideologies in the classroom.
Due process removal for educators found to be systematically violating neutrality rules or engaging in political indoctrination after repeated warnings.
Revocation of teaching certificates for egregious cases involving documented harm to students or clear violations of law.
4. Structural Reforms
School Board Empowerment: Restore authority to locally elected school boards. Prohibit state or federal mandates that override parental and local control.
Curriculum Transparency Portal: Statewide online database where every parent can review exactly what is being taught in their child’s classroom.
Defund Failure Factories: Redirect funding away from persistently failing districts toward successful models and parental choice.
Higher Education Alignment: Extend transparency and accountability standards to public universities receiving state funding, especially in teacher training programs.
Implementation and Metrics
Immediate legislative package: True Education Freedom Act including parental rights, curriculum standards, teacher incentives, and indoctrination safeguards.
Annual public reporting on student proficiency scores, parental satisfaction, teacher retention among high performers, and number of ideological complaints resolved.
Goal: Michigan ranked in the top 10 nationally in reading, math, and civics within one decade, with strong majorities of parents reporting their children are receiving patriotic, fact-based education.
The Michigan First Movement believes education should produce proud, knowledgeable, productive American citizens, not activists hostile to their own country. We will reward great teachers who inspire excellence and love of Michigan and America, while protecting children from ideological grooming.
Children First. Parents First. Patriotism First.
This platform will be advanced aggressively through legislation, ballot initiatives if necessary, and unrelenting parental mobilization. We call on every Michigan lawmaker who believes in parental rights and American values to support these reforms immediately.
Save Our Schools. Teach Real History. Raise Great Patriots.
