Stopping the Flow of Michigan Tax Dollars to Foreign Wars and Corrupt Regimes

Michigan First will fight for an America First – Michigan First foreign policy that ends the waste of our blood and treasure on senseless, never-ending wars and the propping up of corruption and cronyism in foreign countries. The hardworking men and women of Michigan should not be forced to fund foreign wars, the bloated United Nations, and foreign corruption and dictators with their hard-earned tax dollars while Michigan roads crumble, Michigan families suffer, and Michigan veterans struggle to get the care they need and deserve. Our tax dollars should stay here at home to build the Michigan of our future, not get shipped overseas and disappear into never-ending wars and foreign pay-offs.

For generations, trillions of American tax dollars–including dollars earned by Michiganders from Michigan jobs and Michigan businesses–have been spent on foreign wars with no foreseeable victory, nation-building schemes and “foreign aid” that never makes it to the people and instead enriches foreign warlords and foreign leaders that are among the most corrupt on earth. Trillions have been spent in Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, Libya, and countless other countries with little or no accountability, with our tax dollars enriching defense contractors and leaving Michigan families footing the bill. Billions of dollars that Americans call “foreign aid” vanish into offshore bank accounts, or get funneled to governments where top leaders steal it from their people and line their own pockets with it–or use U.S. tax dollars to buy weapons that our own government will then use against us in the future. It’s time to end this foolishness, and Michigan First will fight against any and all efforts to fund foreign wars and foreign corruption with Michigan resources and Michigan tax dollars.

Michigan First says enough is enough, and will fight in the Michigan legislature to stop the flow of Michigan dollars into this corrupt system, and call on our Michigan congressional delegation to defund this folly entirely at the federal level.

Plan to End the Funding of Endless Wars and Foreign Corruption:

No Michigan Dollars for Foreign Wars: Call for full transparency and a Governor’s line item veto on any federal funds that pass through the Michigan state budget if they are tied to foreign wars. Redirect those funds to rebuilding Michigan roads and infrastructure, improving services for Michigan veterans, and protecting our borders.

Stop Blank-Check Foreign Aid Packages: Urge Congress to end foreign aid packages without strict anti-corruption safeguards. No more billion-dollar aid packages with no accountability going to countries where leaders steal billions from their own people and leave them to starve or die, or where U.S. tax dollars end up buying weapons that will be used against us in the future.

Audit Every Dollar Sent Overseas: Support bipartisan calls for comprehensive forensic audits of all U.S. military and economic aid sent overseas, to ensure no funds are wasted, misspent, or embezzled by corrupt officials. Use these audits to recover misused funds and hold foreign recipients of U.S. aid accountable.

Veterans and Defense Workers First: Make our veterans and our defense workers our first priority when it comes to defense spending. No more Michigan defense dollars that don’t guarantee the best care for our veterans first, or the best jobs and wages for Michigan workers while the military and defense contractors ship more and more of our defense dollars overseas to fund never-ending wars and conflicts around the world.

Say NO to Globalist Entanglements: End state funding and support for international organizations and treaties that drain our resources while advancing agendas that are hostile to American interests. Michigan will not fund supranational organizations and corrupt foreign governments.

Trade, Not Aid: End the era of endless foreign handouts and instead focus on pursuing trade agreements that actually help American workers.

It’s time to end the free-flowing money from American tax dollars for endless foreign wars and support for foreign corruption, once and for all. Our kids and our future in Michigan come first – not foreign wars or foreign governments or globalist agendas. We can still support our true national defense priorities, including our strong and historic alliances. But we will not continue to prop up dictators and corrupt regimes on the other side of the world with our hard-earned tax dollars–or ask the hardworking men and women of Michigan to pay for never-ending foreign wars that never seem to end. No more Michigan tax dollars wasted in endless wars or wasted on foreign corruption. It stops now. 

Patriots: We demand that every tax dollar be spent for the benefit of Michiganders and Michigander families–not for foreign wars, not for corrupt foreign regimes, and not for globalist entanglements that take our resources and leave us nothing.
